The Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him) said: "If a man dies, his good deeds are discontinued, except for three: a continuous charity, knowledge from which people benefit, or a good offspring praying for him." (Bukhari and Muslim)

Arqam House The Trust has been renting the premises from where it has been providing an invaluable service to the local community, and is now in a position to offer its expertise to other outreach communities. However, in order to achieve our aims and objectives and in order to plan and facilitate our future growth it is necessary that we acquire new premises which will embody the vision of Darul Arqam - especially in view of the fact that the present rented property is now too small for our needs. The new premises will require refurbishment in order to convert it into a modern educational institution as described in the Trust’s aims. A suitable property has been identified and we have developed a fundraising plan in order to purchase and renovate the property. Having considered the key factors of the property; location, size and price, we are pleased to confirm is suitability has a prime site to house the activities of the Trust. |
Building Design
True to the vision, the new property will include lecture rooms, office space, café, gallery, ablution areas as well as retail outlets providing a source of revenue. The existing ground floor level is to be raised to allow for sufficient height in the basement providing storage space and further useable floor space.
The first floor will consist of three large seminar rooms, formed by demolishing existing partition walls, together with an office, kitchen and ablution area. The conversion in the loft will make way for a library, prayer room accessible for both men and women, offices and space for occasional overnight stays for visiting lecturers and guests. The design utilises the existing structure to form a design feature and keep costs to a minimum.

Proposed Uses Offer a range of education, social and cultural facilities to individuals and groups from across the community, both locally and from a wider geographic area. A soothing aesthetically pleasing public space which will serve as a prayer room and double up as a hall for traditional classical Islamic lessons. |

Property Purchase A Local vicarage has been identified as suitable premises for Darul Arqam’s growing activities. The period property contains many sought after features and is centrally located to serve the Muslim population, making it easily accessible for the Muslim Community of Leicester. In addition, Leicester being centrally located in the UK, is an ideal venue for national events. The new property will also cater for the needs of the city’s Muslim community, by providing a prayer facility open to both brothers and sisters, as well as a venue for schooling. The building is in good condition with a total area of 307 sq. metres, plus external grounds (gardens to front and rear) of 0.35 acres which can be put to good use for future projects. |
Financials
The Arqam House project requires capital and revenue support of £650,000 as outlined in the table below. It is anticipated that pledges from the UK and international sources will provide the majority of this.
